To get to Weden Creek trail, park at Barlow Pass and proceed through to the trails leading into the old Monte Cristo townsites. This is a 10 miles, roundtrip hike with 5,000
being the highest elevation peak and a 2600 elevation gain. It starts heavy with trees and eventually leads into the wide-open basin.
The basin sits high
above the Sauk River Valley and Monte Cristo townsite. This is a great place for camping. The first four miles is a very level and easy hike, down the
dirt and gravel road following along the river. The trail eventually turns steep and rocky. Once you reach the end of the forest you come across three
major streams.
Follow alond South Fork of the Sauk River before you start ascending upward and rising above the Weden Creek Valley. Continue hiking
to reach the basin.
