North Cascades Recreation and Trail Guide

Pinnacle Lake Trail
Mountain Loop Highway

To reach the Pinnacle Lake trailhead you must follow the Mountain Loop Highway to the 15.7 milepost and make a right onto Road #4020, there you will find a sign stating Boardman Lake Trail.

Follow down this road for 2.6 miles and turn right at Bear Lake Road #4021. Follow 1.4 miles to Bear Lake and turn right again. Trailhead will be 1.5 miles on the left side. This is a moderate 1.9 mile one way hike, which usually takes about an hour to finish. There is a 900 feet elevation gain.

Follow the trail for 0.2 miles from trailhead and make a left at the fork. This is a rough hike, with rigid inclines throughout the forest. There is some rock climbing involved as well so make sure to dress accordingly. While on this trail you will be surrounded the entire time with beautiful scenery. Small creeks flow through rockery and down into the lake. Great climb for small groups, not neccessarily ideal for young children, however.
