To get to Monte Cristo Trail take Highway 92 from Granite Falls, up the Mountain Loop Highway to Barlow Pass. a large parking area is located at the trailhead 19.5 miles from Verlot. The best time of the year to hike this trail is from May-November.

This is a 8+ mile hike and is set at an easy level which is great for family hikes or even horseback riding.

This trail takes you to an old town site which is rich with history. Along you will experience surrounding mountains and old growth forest, as well as some old bridge crossings and some private homes along the river as well as some small campsites should you wish to camp. There is a lot to explore and there is a lot of foot traffic so have an early start it will take most of your day.
